Several stories have been written about successful applications using a Power Automation control. Each document is in the pdf format. 3-head Vertical Turret Lathe Retrofit
Retrofit of huge Rafamet KC250 VTL with 3 turrets. The 1982 machine had been manually operated but with the retrofit it became full CNC. (570KB)

American Hustler Lathe
Lathe retrofit was done as a control cabinet replacement (existing drives and motors are reused). This cabinet was designed to work with any of the American Tool products (Hustler, Eagle, Challenger). (260KB)

Brown and Sharpe VC1000 and VC1050 Control Retrofits
Brown and Sharpe machines with GE 1050 control retrofits. Drives and motors were reused as well as much of the existing machine hardware to minimize the control integration time and cost. (570KB)

Eliminating Maintenance on Old Grinders
Tschudin grinder with Marposs gauge. The Marposs gauge and control cabinet was reused but the old drives and motors were replaced with new Indramat SERCOS drives and motors. (640KB)

General Motion
Replacement of Allen Bradley 8200 control (and the old drives/motors) on a glue-dispensing machine for an automotive application. (280KB)


Giddings & Lewis 410-102 Mill Retrofit

Retrofit of a G&L 410-102 mill that had the GE 2000 control, that had been retrofit years ago to upgrade what had been built as a manual machine. Drives and motors were reused as well as much of the existing machine hardware to minimize the control integration time and cost. (960KB)

 

Giddings & Lewis 515 VTL Retrofit

Retrofit of a G&L 515 VTL that had the Westinghouse PAC 2000 control. Drives and motors were reused as well as much of the existing machine hardware to minimize the control integration time and cost. This VTL has twin turrets so the CNC runs two part programs (one for each turret) simultaneously. (730KB)

 

Gleason 777 Gear Hobber Retrofit

Retrofit of a Gleason 777 Gear Hobber that had the Allen Bradley 8600 control. This retrofit used the Electronic Gear Box feature in our new Power Automation CNC but it reused the existing DeviceNet Flex IO modules and the existing Indramat drives and motors. (600KB)

 

Retrofit of an ITI Grinder

Retrofit of an ITI Grinder, built in 1981, that had the ITI 300 control. Existing drives and motors as well as the Y-axis linear scale were reused. (70KB)


Kearney & Trecker Horizontal Mill
Retrofit of an MM180 that had a K&T C control (the original axis, spindle drives and motors were reused). (510KB)

Field rebuild of a Matsuura Machining Center
Retrofit of Matsuura MV1000 that had a Fanuc 3000C control. The drives and motors were replaced as part of the machine rebuild. This machine has twin spindles but the control runs just one part program. (550KB)

Retrofit of Monarch VMC150. (160KB)

Pratt & Whitney Vertical Mill
Replacement of the Teammate control on a PW Trimac XV machine. The control cabinet replacement design used compatible connectors to expedite the replacement. (430KB)
